Programs
Some interesting programs which the Trio has been performing in the past years feature a comparison between the music of Mozart
(1756-1791) and another composer of the era. Salieri (1750-1825) is an obvious choice
(Amadeus) and several of his pieces were arranged for basset horn trio in the 18th century. Wind arrangements for the music of the Spanish composer
Martín i Soler (1754-1806), who was also very successful in Vienna during Mozart's time
there (Figaro), with "Una Cosa Rara" are featured in these
programs.

6 "Notturni"
Some beautiful, unique & seldom heard works by Mozart are the six "Notturni", KV 346, 436-439 & 549. Set to texts by Metastasio, the pieces are scored for soprano, mezzo and bass, accompanied by three basset horns. A more lovely and remarkable sound has perhaps never been heard. The "Notturni" can be added to any of the programs above, and usually they serve to end both the 1st and 2nd halves of a program. In the past, the Stadler Trio has performed the pieces with singers from Holland, as well as singers from the various locales where the concerts take place. In our experience, it is possible to rehearse and present these works with good, local professional singers after one day of rehearsal.
